WEEK ONE: The 613 Casual Choir Workshop

Our second ever 613 Cuba Workshop last year was absolutely MAGICAL.

This year is the third 613 Casual Choir 7-day workshop!  It's 2 hours of learning new songs, the 613 way!  Everyone learns the lead, then we toss in some harmonies, and voilá!  We sound amazing.  It's no pressure, easy-peasy pop singing, great for all the 613 keeners or anyone who loves to sing along to the radio in the car!

Cost is usually around $2000-$2200 from Ottawa for 7 days, and around $2200-$2400 from Vancouver.  That's for EVERYTHING; flight, accommodations, food, cocktails, transportation, and workshop.

Participants are welcome to bring a non-singing roommate (we call them Klingons).  Klingons don't pay the workshop fee; only the cost of the trip plus a $50 admin fee.

last year, Rob Cosh and I put together this list of songs;

California Dreaming (Mamas and the Papas)

Where Evil Grows (The Poppy Family)

Crocodile Rock (Elton John)

Mamma Mia (ABBA)

Shut Up and Dance (Walk The Moon)

Faith (George Michael)

Go Your Own Way (Fleetwood Mac)

Lovers in a Dangerous Time (Bruce Cockburn/Barenaked Ladies)

Ice Cream (Sarah MacLachlan)

The fave of the week was Where Evil Grows!  Hardly anyone knew this 2-part harmony song by the Poppy Family, but everyone LOVED it!  The staff at the resort were pretty fond of Mamma Mia, and Jania, the Customer Relations Goddess, filmed the gang singing it and posted it on the hotel's Facebook page!  There were trips to Havana and also into the town of Varadero, Dancing on the beach at night and in the outdoor pavillion, and a nightly singalong thanks to Rob, David, and Mary, who brought guitars and a ukelele.

COST: it's usually around $1900 from Ottawa for 7 days, and around $2200 from Vancouver.

That's for EVERYTHING; flight, accommodations, food, cocktails, transportation, and workshop.

Coming from a different Canadian city?  No prob!  Contact me.

Participants are welcome to bring a non-singing roommate (we call them Klingons).

Folks, what a couple of great weeks!

WEEK TWO: The Vocal Harmony Workshop

This will be our 15th year of the Lee Hayes VOX harmony workshop by the beach.

It's a week (or more!) of singing and fun in the sun!

This workshop is for those who want a bit of a choral challenge.  However, you don't have to be able to read music!  Everything is taught by ear.  This year was extra special for us, because the pandemic kept us apart for three years.  Singing together again was a joyful experience.  Newbies came too;  It's a great way to travel if you don't want to travel solo!

SONGS: This year we will be focusing on 3 and 4-part harmony songs in a variety of pop-folk songs.
