7 days of singing with the 613 Casual Choir
It's a BLAST!

The 613 Casual Choir Workshop:
2026: MEXICO!
2025 was the 4th 613 Casual Choir 7-day workshop!
We had a glorious time in Puerto Plata at the Viva Tangerine!
What is the workshop?
It's 2 hours of learning new songs, the 613 way! Everyone learns the lead, then we toss in some harmonies, and voilá! We sound amazing. It's no pressure, easy-peasy pop singing, great for all the 613 keeners or anyone who loves to sing along to the radio in the car. And it's a great way to travel solo, meet new friends, and have an amazing vacation!

Cost is usually around $2200-$2600 from Ottawa for 7 days, and if you're coming from a different Canadian city, we can find out what the prices are for your closest airport. That's for EVERYTHING; flight, accommodations, food, cocktails, transportation, and workshop.

Participants are welcome to bring a non-singing roommate (we call them Klingons). Klingons don't pay the workshop fee; only the cost of the trip plus a $50 admin fee.

Coming from a different Canadian city? No prob! We can make it happen.

Some fave songs from previous years:

Stop Draggin Mah Heart Around (Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks) * Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
California Dreaming (Mamas and the Papas) * Where Evil Grows (The Poppy Family)
Crocodile Rock (Elton John) * Mamma Mia (ABBA) * Beast Of Burden (Stones)

The fave of the week was Where Evil Grows! Hardly anyone knew this 2-part harmony song by the Poppy Family, but everyone LOVED it! The staff at the resort were pretty fond of Mamma Mia, and Jania, the Customer Relations Goddess, filmed the gang singing it and posted it on the hotel's Facebook page! There were trips to Havana and also into the town of Varadero, Dancing on the beach at night and in the outdoor pavillion, and a nightly singalong thanks to Rob, Sean, and Mary, who brought guitars and a ukelele.
